- Why should it be? ALynx has about the same graphics and sound setup as
- AMosaic, and no more support for doing so. Given the problems people
- have had with AMosaic, no one should be surprised that someone
- would have problems with ALynx.
-
- Or maybe you haven't investigated ALynx, and don't realize that the
- only things it can't do that AMosaic can are related to inline display
- (changing fonts, inline images), and that just like AMosaic, it can
- invoke external programs to play sounds and display images? Further,
- unlike Mosaic and most other GUI browsers, it can invoke external
- programs to display images that expect to be imbedded inline, so you
- can see them on a screen type that's appropriate to the image, as
- opposed to the one you selected to run your browser on.
-
- The best way to set up ALynx for graphics and sound is to grab a copy
- of env:mosaic/mime.types and env:mosaic/mailcap from someone who has
- either ALynx or AMosaic working properly, along with any programs
- associated with the mailcap. If you are using a 3.x system and
- datatype players, you'll need to get the appropriate datatypes as
- well.
